When most people hear the term "all-inclusive," they picture a large resort where guests rarely leave the property. At Kritajna, we believe Costa Rica is meant to be explored.
Our all-inclusive packages were created to make your vacation simple, stress-free, and easy to budget, while still giving you the freedom to experience the very best of Costa Rica's South Pacific region. Instead of spending your time organizing transportation, booking tours, finding restaurants, or worrying about unexpected expenses, we've done the planning for you.
Guests can choose from 3, 5, or 7-day meal packages, enjoy airport pickup and drop-off from San José International Airport, and select four experiences from a curated list of seven incredible tours and adventures. All transportation to and from tours, activities, and day trips is included, allowing you to focus on relaxing, exploring, and making memories.
Whether you're chasing waterfalls, learning to surf, spotting wildlife, exploring hidden beaches, or simply enjoying the laid-back atmosphere of Dominical, our all-inclusive packages are designed to help you experience more while spending less time planning and more time enjoying Costa Rica.
**The following artinery is simply a guideline, tour days will alter depending on tides, weather and of course what tours you choose from.
Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome to Paradise
Most international flights arrive in Costa Rica during the afternoon or evening. Upon arrival at San José International Airport, you will be greeted by one of our drivers and transported directly to Kritajna through the stunning mountains and landscapes of Costa Rica's South Pacific region.
After settling into your accommodations, you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and, depending on your arrival time, a delicious meal prepared with local ingredients. This relaxed first evening is designed to help you unwind after your travels, meet fellow guests, and settle into the laid-back atmosphere that makes Kritajna unique.
We'll also provide a brief orientation outlining the adventures, tours, meals, and experiences planned for the days ahead, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, get acquainted with the property, and begin connecting with other guests. Then it's time to relax, listen to the sounds of the jungle, and enjoy your first night in paradise.
Day 2 – Discover Dominical & Costa Rica's Incredible Wildlife
Your day begins with a freshly prepared breakfast created by our chef using local ingredients and tropical flavors. Enjoy a relaxed morning surrounded by nature before we head into the vibrant surf town of Dominical.
Spend the morning exploring the town at your own pace. Wander through local shops, browse artisan vendors along the beach, stroll for miles on the beautiful Pacific coastline, enjoy a coffee, or pick up any groceries and essentials you may need during your stay. Dominical is known for its laid-back atmosphere, friendly locals, and authentic Costa Rican charm. We'll arrange a pickup after lunch and return to Kritajna for a short break before the afternoon's adventure.
In the afternoon, we'll visit Hacienda Barú, one of the region's premier wildlife reserves, for a guided nature hike through primary and secondary rainforest. This area is renowned for its incredible biodiversity, and guests regularly encounter some of Costa Rica's most iconic wildlife. Sightings often include sloths, coatis, peccaries, agoutis, tamanduas, howler monkeys, and white-faced capuchin monkeys. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the possibility of spotting toucans, scarlet macaws, aracaris,
motmots, trogons, curassows, parrots, herons, hawks, and many other species.
Along the trails, keep your eyes open for colorful frogs, lizards, butterflies, hummingbirds,
fascinating insects, and countless other creatures that make Costa Rica one of the most biodiverse
countries on Earth.
The tour will end at the beach in time for sunset. There, our driver will be
waiting with a cooler stocked with your requested beverages so you can relax, watch the sun dip
into the Pacific Ocean, and reflect on your first full day in paradise.
We will head back to Kritajna where you will have some time to clean up while our chef will be
readying your well earned dinner.
Please Note: Hacienda Barú is a tropical rainforest environment. We recommend bringing water,
comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent, as some guests are more sensitive to
mosquitoes and sandflies than others.
Day 3 – Waterfalls, Hidden Swimming Holes & Coastal Exploration
After another delicious home-cooked breakfast prepared with fresh local ingredients, we'll set off on a full day of exploring some of the South Pacific's most beautiful waterfalls, swimming holes, and beaches. This is a relatively low-impact day with minimal hiking, making it perfect for guests who want to experience the area's natural beauty without tackling long trails.
Be sure to bring your bathing suit, towel, water bottle, and a sense of adventure. Our first stop
is a stunning waterfall where you'll have plenty of time to swim in refreshing pools, take in the
scenery, and for the adventurous, enjoy the opportunity to safely cliff jump into the clear waters
below.
Our next destination features a short one-kilometre walk to a beautiful natural swimming hole
tucked away in the jungle. Here, guests can relax in the cool water, slide down a natural rock
waterslide, and take a brief walk to discover a hidden 40-foot waterfall cascading into a secluded
pool.
After drying off and working up an appetite, we'll stop at a traditional Costa Rican soda for lunch
(please bring your wallet), where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy authentic local cuisine.
From there, we'll continue into the mountains to visit the famous El Pavón Waterfall, one of
Costa Rica's most unique and photographed waterfalls, where a massive boulder sits naturally
suspended above the flowing water below.
To finish the day, we'll head to Playa Ventanas, widely considered one of the most beautiful and
unique beaches on Costa Rica's South Pacific coast. Spend the late afternoon exploring the sea
caves, swimming in the generally calm waters, relaxing on the beach, and watching another
spectacular Pacific sunset.
Please note that sandflies can occasionally be present around sunset. We recommend bringing insect repellent or lightweight beach pants if you are sensitive to bites.
After sunset, we'll return to Kritajna where a home-cooked dinner awaits, giving everyone the opportunity to share stories from the day and relax under the tropical evening sky.
Day 4 – Choose Your Adventure
Today is all about flexibility and allowing you to experience the side of Costa Rica that interests you most.
After breakfast, you'll choose one of four incredible excursions, each offering a completely different
perspective on Costa Rica's South Pacific region.
Option 1: Caño Island Snorkeling Adventure
Often referred to as one of Costa Rica's best snorkeling destinations, Caño Island Biological Reserve offers
crystal-clear waters and an incredible variety of marine life. Depending on conditions and the season, guests
may encounter sea turtles, reef sharks, rays, dolphins, moray eels, colorful tropical fish, and occasionally
even whales. The boat ride itself is often an adventure, with opportunities to spot dolphins and other marine
wildlife along the way.
Option 2: Corcovado National Park – Sirena Station
Frequently described as one of the most biologically intense places on Earth, Corcovado National Park is
a bucket-list destination for wildlife enthusiasts. A guided tour to Sirena Station provides opportunities
to encounter monkeys, tapirs, coatis, peccaries, crocodiles, scarlet macaws, sloths, anteaters, and
countless bird species. For many visitors, this is the highlight of their Costa Rica experience and offers an
unforgettable glimpse into one of the world's most pristine rainforest ecosystems.
Option 3: Whale Watching & Marine Wildlife Tour
The waters of Costa Ballena are famous for seasonal humpback whale migrations, making this one of the
best places in the world to observe these magnificent animals. Depending on the season, guests may witness
whales breaching, tail slapping, and swimming alongside their calves. Dolphins, sea turtles, rays, and other
marine life are also commonly seen during the tour. Even outside peak whale season, the coastline and
marine wildlife make for an exceptional day on the water.
Option 4: Manuel Antonio National Park
Costa Rica's most famous national park combines stunning beaches, lush rainforest, and abundant wildlife
in one spectacular location. Guided walks through the park frequently reveal sloths, monkeys, toucans, iguanas,
raccoons, and a variety of tropical birds. The park's white-sand beaches and turquoise waters offer the perfect
place to relax after your wildlife adventure, making Manuel Antonio an excellent choice for those seeking a
balance of nature and beach time.
Regardless of which adventure you choose, you'll return to Kritajna with a deeper appreciation for Costa Rica's
incredible biodiversity and natural beauty. The evening is yours to relax, enjoy dinner, and share stories from
the day's experiences with fellow travelers.
***Please note that trips to Cano Island and Corcovado are an added cost (but definitely worth it and
recommended).
Day 5 – Hidden Beaches & Mangrove Adventure
After breakfast, we'll spend the day exploring some of the most beautiful and least-visited beaches along Costa Rica's South Pacific coast. While many visitors never venture beyond the main tourist destinations, today's journey takes you to a collection of stunning beaches known for their natural beauty, dramatic scenery, and peaceful atmosphere.
Throughout the day, we'll visit several unique coastal locations where you can swim, relax, walk
seemingly endless stretches of sand, search for wildlife, and simply enjoy the slower pace of life
that makes this region so special.
For lunch, we'll stop in the laid-back beach community of Matapalo, where you'll enjoy a meal at
a local restaurant while taking in the relaxed coastal atmosphere and ocean views.
In the afternoon, we'll head into one of the region's beautiful mangrove ecosystems for a guided
kayaking adventure. As we paddle through the calm waterways, you'll have the opportunity to
observe a variety of wildlife including monkeys, iguanas, herons, kingfishers, egrets, and
numerous other bird species that call the mangroves home. The peaceful waters and incredible
scenery make this one of the most relaxing and memorable excursions of the week.
Our tour concludes at the beach just in time for sunset, where we'll watch the sky transform into
brilliant shades of orange, pink, and gold as the sun sinks into the Pacific Ocean.
After sunset, we'll return to Kritajna for another home-cooked dinner and a relaxing evening spent sharing stories and memories from another incredible day exploring Costa Rica's South Pacific coast.
Day 6 – The Ultimate Waterfall Adventure
Today is all about experiencing two of Costa Rica's most spectacular waterfalls. After an early
breakfast, we'll set off for a full day of exploring, swimming, relaxing, and taking in some of
the most breathtaking natural scenery the South Pacific region has to offer.
Our first destination is the legendary Nauyaca Waterfalls, widely considered one of the most
beautiful waterfalls in all of Costa Rica. Surrounded by lush rainforest, Nauyaca features
massive cascading falls that plunge into large natural swimming pools below. Guests will
have plenty of time to swim, explore the surrounding area, take photographs, or simply relax
and enjoy the incredible power and beauty of this iconic destination.
After our morning adventure, we'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant where you can
recharge and enjoy authentic Costa Rican cuisine before heading to our second waterfall of
the day.
In the afternoon, we'll visit Eco Chontales Waterfall, one of the region's hidden gems.
Nestled within the mountains and surrounded by pristine jungle, Eco Chontales offers a
more intimate and peaceful experience. Guests can swim beneath the falls, relax in the
natural pools, explore the surrounding trails, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere that makes
this location so special.
Throughout the day, keep your eyes open for tropical birds, butterflies, monkeys, and other
wildlife that frequently inhabit the surrounding rainforest.
By the time we return to Kritajna, you'll have experienced two of the most impressive waterfalls in Costa Rica, creating memories and photographs that will stay with you long after your trip has ended. The evening is yours to relax, enjoy dinner, and reflect on another unforgettable day in paradise.
Day 7 – Relaxation, Reflection & A Sunset Farewell
Your final full day in Costa Rica is designed to be flexible, relaxed, and memorable. After breakfast, you'll have time to pack your belongings, enjoy the property one last time, relax by the pool, take a stroll through the gardens, or simply soak in the peaceful atmosphere that has become home over the past week.
Late morning, we'll head into Dominical for lunch and some free time to explore. This is the perfect opportunity to pick up any last-minute souvenirs, gifts, artwork, coffee, or local treasures for friends and family back home. Take your time wandering through the shops, enjoying the beach atmosphere, and saying goodbye to the town that has been your base for adventure throughout the week.
After lunch, we'll make our way down the beach toward Dominicalito, where one final adventure awaits. As the afternoon begins to cool, we'll launch our kayaks onto the Pacific Ocean for a sunset paddle along the coastline. From the water, you'll experience an entirely different perspective of Costa Rica's lush jungle-covered mountains, dramatic coastline, and tropical scenery.
As the sun begins its descent toward the horizon, keep your eyes open for some of the incredible marine life that inhabits these waters. Depending on conditions and the season, we may encounter schools of jumping fish, nesting seabirds, rays leaping from the water, dolphins, and if we're especially fortunate, even migrating whales.
Watching the sunset from the ocean is a truly unforgettable experience and the perfect way to
celebrate an incredible week of adventure, exploration, and connection.
Back at Kritajna, we'll gather one final time for a special farewell dinner before ending the evening
around a bonfire beneath the stars. Together, we'll share stories from the week's adventures, reflect
on the friendships and memories created, and celebrate our appreciation for the natural beauty,
wildlife, culture, and people that make Costa Rica such a remarkable place.
A perfect ending to an unforgettable journey.
Day 8 – Departure Day
After one final night in paradise, our chef will be up early preparing a fresh breakfast to help start your journey home on the right note. Enjoy a relaxed morning, exchange final goodbyes with new friends, and take in the tropical surroundings one last time before departure.
Once everyone is packed and ready, we'll begin the scenic drive back through Costa Rica's mountains and countryside toward San José International Airport. Along the way, you'll have time to reflect on a week filled with waterfalls, beaches, wildlife, adventure, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.
While your Costa Rican adventure may be coming to an end, our hope is that you leave with more than just photographs. We hope you leave with a deeper appreciation for nature, a renewed sense of connection, and memories that will last a lifetime.
